Lou Nanne’s in Edina Rebrands as Tavern23
New concept will feature an eclectic variety of multi-cultural cuisines and expanded bar offerings

Minneapolis, Minn. – Sept. 12, 2017 – Today, local restaurateur Michael McDermott and National Hockey League great Lou Nanne announced a rebrand of Lou Nanne’s traditional steakhouse to Tavern23. The new concept will provide diners with a lively bar experience and an expanded menu that includes a variety of shareable plates and dishes that appeal to a wide range of tastes.

The rebranded restaurant will offer a variety of culinary options that emphasize local ingredients, bold flavors and from-scratch recipes. The menu selections represent popular and on-trend creations ranging from wok-tossed orange peel chicken and hand-rolled sushi, to wood-fired pizzas and cedar plank wild salmon. Gluten-free options including pizza, flatbreads, burgers and other options are also available. In addition, Tavern23 will feature an expanded bar and lounge area with a large variety of specialty cocktails and craft, import and domestic beers.

Opening today, Tavern23 is the result of customer feedback collected since Lou Nanne’s opened more than a year ago. Still paying tribute to NHL fan favorite Nanne, who spent his entire career as a player in Minnesota, the new concept pays homage to his jersey number and the menu will feature his wife’s famous Nanne’s Bolognese dish.

“By listening to our customers’ feedback, we learned that while they loved Lou Nanne’s steakhouse, they were looking for a more casual experience with a wide-variety of menu offerings for lunch, happy hour and dinner,” said Michael McDermott, CEO McDermott Restaurants. “Our customers enjoy a variety of different dishes, and we crafted the Tavern23 menu to fit those cravings – while still including our most popular steaks and burgers. The new restaurant will also feature an updated aesthetic concept that expands the bar and lounge area and is perfect for happy hour or watching the big game.”

Tavern23 will feature a full bar and will be open for lunch and dinner every night of the week. Hours of operation are 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. from Monday through Thursday, 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Friday, 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Sunday. After-work happy hour specials are available in the bar, lounge and lounge patio from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, and late night happy hour specials are also offered from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 9 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Friday.
